The Janome Memory Craft 6700P is a high-end machine for quilters who need space and speed. Its 255 mm wide by 120 mm high passage to the right of the needle gives room to roll a large quilt through, and a top speed of 1,200 stitches per minute suits long quilting lines. The AcuFeed Flex dual feed system keeps layers moving together, which is crucial when quilting a sandwich of top, wadding and backing.

Our take
The specification
Janome lists 200 stitches including 9 buttonholes, 18 presser feet including a buttonhole foot with stabilisation plate, AcuFeed Flex wide, 2 additional quick-change stitch plates and a wide foot starter. Stitch width goes up to 9 mm. The listing also mentions a superior needle threader and rearranged control buttons on a slimmer body.
The spec table gives an aluminium material, 11 kg, Japan as country of origin and 10 years of EU spare part availability.
Harp space for quilting
Harp space is the room between the needle and the machine's body. A 255 mm width means a rolled king size quilt can pass through more comfortably than on a standard machine with about 170 to 200 mm. That reduces drag and makes straight-line quilting more accurate.
AcuFeed Flex and stitch plates
AcuFeed Flex is Janome's top feed system, similar to a built-in walking foot, used with compatible feet. The quick-change stitch plates let you swap to a straight stitch plate for piecing, which supports fine fabric better, and back to the standard plate for zigzag.
Against the MC9480QC and Juki TL-2010Q
The Janome MC9480QC adds A.S.R. stitch regulation with a ruler work foot and 400 stitches, aimed at free motion quilters, at 13.7 kg. The Juki TL-2010Q is a semi-industrial straight stitch quilter for those who want only speed and space. The Janome Skyline S6 AE offers a 8.25 inch workspace and 196 stitches.
Weight is another difference: at 11 kg the MC6700P is lighter than the 13.7 kg MC9480QC, though both are machines to set up in one place rather than carry around. If your quilting is mostly straight lines and stitch in the ditch, the 6700P's speed and harp are the features you will use most.
Who it does not suit
For occasional sewing or dressmaking only, this is more machine than needed. Free motion quilters who want stitch regulation should consider the MC9480QC instead.
Verdict
Buy the Janome MC6700P if you quilt large projects and want a wide harp, AcuFeed Flex, 9 mm stitches and high speed in one machine. If stitch regulation for free motion matters, the Janome MC9480QC is the step up, and for straight-line speed alone, the Juki TL-2010Q.
