A non stick foot for leather and PVC comes in the box, so you can start on vinyl straight away.

Denim is hard on a sewing machine. Hemming jeans means climbing over a flat felled side seam that can be six or more layers thick, and topstitching uses heavier thread that needs steady tension. A machine for denim needs piercing power from a strong motor, a rigid metal frame that does not flex, enough presser foot lift to get thick seams under the foot, and steady feeding so the stitches stay even as the layers change. A levelling button or J foot helps the foot climb a seam without stalling. Speed control matters too, because slow, firm stitches over a bump are better than a fast run. This guide compares seven machines sold for heavy fabrics on stitch count, stated top speed, frame and the thick fabric aids each listing names. All facts come from the listings, and where a speed or frame is not stated we say so. Use a jeans needle whichever machine you choose.
